An Online questionnaire can revolve around various subjects or areas including marketing, internet, consumer surveys, advertising surveys, medical surveys, brand awareness campaigns and much more. The primary objective of all types of online questionnaires is the same: to derive as much information as possible from the participant regarding their experience, their satisfaction levels, their needs and wants, their views, and their suggestions. The online questionnaire is not aimed at a general audience but varies according to the requirement specified on the questionnaire. Online marketing questionnaires will focus on marketing activities and strategies while online internet usage questionnaires will focus on the reach of the internet and provide usage statistics in different regions and countries.
An online questionnaire contains generic or specific questions depending on the objective and the requirements it is catering to. There are three sections of an online questionnaire and they are:
- Personal Information: This is the section of an online questionnaire where the participant needs to provide information like name, age, date of birth, address, email, phone number, family information, annual income etc.
- Generic Information: This is the section of an online questionnaire where the participant is asked questions pertaining to their lifestyle, their needs, their desires, and their expectations from the company or product in question etc. This section of the questionnaire contains current information only.
- Relevant Information: This is the most important section of an online questionnaire. This section consists of questions that are directly addresses to the individual and its objective is to obtain as much information as possible regarding the subject of this online exercise. Depending on the subject and nature; the questions can be multiple choice, open-ended, close-ended, or just a statement. In this part of the online questionnaire, the participant has to provide what they feel about the subject, what their past experiences have been, what type of change would they suggest, how they can benefit from the exercise, and their recommendations.
